About : WaaPaKe (Tomorrow)
WaaPaKe (Tomorrow) is a powerful and deeply emotional documentary that tells the story of resilience, love, and transformation from an Indigenous perspective. The film explores the impact of residential schools on Indigenous communities, focusing on the trauma passed down through generations and the journey of healing.
The documentary takes place in a studio with a green screen background, where filmmaker Jules Koostachin conducts heartfelt and honest conversations with five individuals. These are people who have either personally experienced the pain of residential schools or have been affected by the trauma through their families. Their stories shed light on the emotional and psychological effects that continue to shape Indigenous lives today.
