The story picks up over a century after the conclusion of Season 1. The galaxy is once again in turmoil as the once mighty Cleon dynasty begins to fall apart from within. A vengeful queen emerges with plans to destroy the Empire by exploiting its internal weaknesses. Meanwhile, the protagonists Hari, Gaal, and Salvor uncover a hidden colony of Mentalics, people with powerful psionic abilities that have the potential to alter the course of psychohistory, the science that predicts the future of the galaxy.
As the Foundation enters a new phase, it embraces religion as a tool to spread the teachings of Hari Seldon, known as the Church of Seldon, throughout the Outer Reach. This shift sparks the Second Crisis: a war between the Foundation and the Empire that threatens to reshape the galaxy.
